1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions (Terms) govern access to and use of Rewrit.com.au and any related website, application, writing analysis tool, AI feedback system, vocabulary plan, writing competition, ranking feature, report or other service operated by AIGenius Innovation Pty Ltd (ABN 28680573200) (Rewrit, we, us or our).
By creating an account, signing in, submitting writing, purchasing a subscription or token package, entering a writing challenge or otherwise using Rewrit, you agree to these Terms. If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf and supervise your use of Rewrit.
2. Eligibility and parental consent
Rewrit is designed to support school-age students with writing development. It is not intended for unsupervised use by children without parental or guardian consent.
If the user is under 18, the parent or guardian is responsible for approving the account, monitoring use, payment obligations and any competition entries.
If you are a parent or guardian, you confirm that you have authority to consent to the student using Rewrit and to provide the student information submitted through the platform.
If we reasonably believe an account has been created without appropriate consent, we may suspend access until consent is confirmed.
3. Google sign-in and account security
Rewrit uses Google sign-in as a third-party authentication method. Google sign-in is used to verify account identity and help users access Rewrit securely.
We may receive basic Google account information such as name, email address, profile identifier and profile image if provided by Google.
We do not use Google sign-in to read Gmail messages, access Google Drive files, access Google Calendar, access contacts or access other Google services unless this is clearly stated in a future feature and separately authorised.
Users are responsible for keeping their Google account secure and must not share account access with others.
Parents or guardians may contact us to request account review, deletion or access assistance.
4. Our services
Rewrit is an AI-powered writing learning platform. Depending on the features available at the time, Rewrit may provide:
- AI writing analysis and feedback;
- writing structure, vocabulary, grammar, style and content-development suggestions;
- indicative writing scores, rubrics, percentile bands or progress indicators;
- personalised learning recommendations based on grade, state/territory or New Zealand, and submitted writing;
- daily vocabulary or word-learning plans;
- writing history, progress reports and learning dashboards;
- weekly writing challenges, awards, state-level, New Zealand-level or national-level ranking displays;
- model writing collections, where separately authorised; and
- other educational tools designed to help students improve writing skills.
Rewrit is a learning-support tool. It does not replace school assessment, teacher judgement, human tutoring, formal examination marking or professional educational advice.
5. AI feedback, scores and learning recommendations
AI feedback is provided for educational and informational purposes only.
AI feedback, scores, percentile estimates, writing levels, rankings and recommendations may be imperfect, incomplete, inconsistent or unsuitable for a particular school, examination or marking context.
Rewrit does not guarantee any particular NAPLAN, ICAS, selective school, scholarship, HSC, school assessment or other academic result.
Students should use Rewrit to learn, revise and improve their own writing, not to replace their own work.
Parents and students should use their own judgement and, where appropriate, seek feedback from teachers or tutors.
6. Student writing and user content
Users may submit writing prompts, essays, narratives, persuasive texts, creative writing, draft work, answers, reflections or other learning content (User Content).
6.1 Ownership
The student or relevant user remains the owner of their original writing. These Terms do not transfer copyright in original student writing to Rewrit.
6.2 Licence to provide the service
By submitting User Content, you grant Rewrit a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, analyse, display, format, annotate, transform and otherwise use the User Content as reasonably necessary to provide Rewrit services, including AI analysis, feedback, scoring, learning recommendations, vocabulary planning, progress tracking, account support and technical operations.
6.3 Licence for model improvement and training
You also agree that Rewrit may use submitted writing, AI feedback history, learning outcomes, correction patterns, writing features, usage data and related learning data to test, evaluate, improve and train Rewrit’s AI writing-analysis systems, scoring tools, recommendation models and educational products. Where practicable, we use de-identified, pseudonymised or aggregated data. Some model-training or system-improvement uses may not allow us to later remove a single item of writing from an already trained model or statistical output.
6.4 No sale of student writing
Rewrit does not sell student writing or personal information. We do not publicly publish identifiable student writing except as described in these Terms, a competition rule, a separate publication consent or our Privacy Policy.
7. Personal information in writing submissions
Students should avoid including unnecessary personal information in writing submissions, including home addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, medical information, identity documents, financial information, private family information or full names of other children. If a student includes such information in a writing submission, Rewrit may process it as part of providing AI feedback and related services.
8. Academic integrity
Rewrit is intended to help students learn writing skills. It is not intended to provide plagiarism, ghost-writing, cheating or school-assessment avoidance services.
Students must follow the academic integrity rules of their school, teacher, examination provider or competition provider.
Users must not submit AI-generated writing as entirely their own work where this would breach school or assessment rules.
Rewrit may flag or restrict use that appears to involve cheating, plagiarism, automated abuse or dishonest academic conduct.
9. Rankings, percentiles and writing challenges
9.1 Indicative rankings and percentile displays
Rewrit may display learning comparisons, percentile bands, state-level indicators, New Zealand-level indicators, national-level indicators or progress charts based on grade, state/territory, New Zealand status, writing task and Rewrit user samples. These are learning indicators only. They do not represent an official state-wide, New Zealand-wide, Australia-wide or national examination ranking unless expressly stated.
9.2 Weekly Writing Challenges and awards
Rewrit may run weekly writing challenges, awards or competitions. Challenge entries may be assessed using AI tools, human review or a combination of both. Each challenge may have additional rules, including entry deadlines, judging criteria, eligibility, disqualification rules, prize rules and publication conditions.
By entering a challenge, the user agrees to the applicable challenge rules.
Rewrit may display anonymised or privacy-protective results such as percentile bands, state ranking categories, New Zealand ranking categories, national ranking categories, initials, display names or account identifiers.
Rewrit will not publish a student’s full name, school, identifiable profile or full writing submission publicly without appropriate additional consent, unless this is clearly stated in specific challenge rules and accepted by the parent or guardian.
10. Model Writing Collection and publication of student work
From time to time, Rewrit may invite selected students to include writing in a model writing collection, sample gallery, learning resource, website feature, PDF booklet, course material or promotional material.
Student writing will not be included in a public or semi-public model writing collection without separate consent from the student and, where the student is under 18, the parent or guardian.
The student remains the owner of their writing. Rewrit will seek a publication licence rather than claiming joint copyright ownership.
The publication consent may allow the student or parent to choose anonymous display, first-name-only display, grade, state/territory or New Zealand, AI/teacher comments and whether minor formatting, spelling or punctuation edits may be made.
Withdrawal of consent may stop future use where reasonably practicable, but may not remove content already printed, downloaded, cached, archived or used in completed materials.
11. Fees, subscriptions, tokens and refunds
Rewrit may offer free trials, free usage limits, subscriptions, token packages, paid reports, competition entries or other paid features. Prices, inclusions, billing periods and usage limits will be shown at the time of purchase or in the user account.
A subscription may renew automatically if this is clearly disclosed at purchase.
Users are responsible for managing cancellations before the next billing date unless applicable law provides otherwise.
Unused tokens, subscriptions or credits may be subject to expiry rules shown at purchase or in the user account.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.
If Rewrit fails to provide paid services as required by law, we will provide an appropriate remedy, which may include repair of the service, replacement access, credit or refund, depending on the circumstances.
12. Acceptable use
Users must not:
- upload unlawful, harmful, abusive, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, defamatory or privacy-invasive content;
- upload content containing another person’s private information without permission;
- use Rewrit to harass, bully, impersonate, threaten or harm others;
- attempt to bypass usage limits, payment systems, token systems, security controls or authentication systems;
- scrape, crawl, copy, reverse engineer, decompile, benchmark, resell or commercially exploit Rewrit without written permission;
- upload malware, automated scripts or malicious code;
- create multiple accounts to abuse free trials or competitions;
- use Rewrit to train, test or improve a competing product without written permission.
13. Intellectual property
Rewrit, its software, user interface, scoring logic, AI feedback design, reports, vocabulary plans, rubrics, prompts, templates, databases, brand, logos, documentation and platform content are owned by Rewrit or its licensors. Except as allowed by these Terms, users may not copy, reproduce, distribute, adapt, sell, publish, license, reverse engineer or commercially exploit Rewrit materials.
Users may use AI feedback and reports for their own personal learning purposes. Schools, tutoring businesses, publishers and commercial organisations must obtain written permission before using Rewrit outputs or platform materials commercially.
14. Third-party services
Rewrit may rely on third-party providers, including Google sign-in, Australian cloud hosting providers, AI infrastructure providers, analytics providers, payment processors, email providers and technical support providers. Rewrit’s core account, writing, feedback and learning data is hosted in Australia using AWS Sydney infrastructure. Use of third-party services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
15. Service availability and changes
Rewrit may update, change, suspend, limit or discontinue features from time to time.
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free or permanently available access.
We may perform maintenance, security updates or emergency changes without advance notice where reasonably necessary.
We may change these Terms by publishing an updated version. Material changes will be notified where reasonably practicable.
16. Suspension and termination
We may suspend, restrict or terminate an account if we reasonably believe the user has breached these Terms, created legal or security risk, abused the service, infringed intellectual property, breached academic integrity rules, submitted harmful content or failed to pay applicable fees.
Users or parents may request account deletion by contacting Rewrit. Data handling on deletion is explained in our Privacy Policy.
17. Disclaimers
Rewrit is provided as an educational technology service, not a formal marking authority, school, examination body or guaranteed tutoring service.
AI outputs may be inaccurate or unsuitable. Users should review and use outputs carefully.
We do not guarantee any specific grade, score, scholarship, school admission, examination result, writing competition result or learning outcome.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rewrit is not responsible for loss caused by reliance on AI outputs without independent judgement.
18. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, remedy or obligation that cannot be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law. Where the law permits us to limit remedies, our liability is limited to the remedies allowed by law.
19. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rewrit and its officers, employees, contractors, licensors and service providers are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, incidental or punitive loss, loss of opportunity, loss of data, loss of goodwill, academic results, reputational loss or business interruption arising from use of Rewrit. This limitation does not apply where liability cannot be limited by law.
20. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and any courts that may hear appeals from those courts.
